Otaruishikien is located in the former economic trading centre of Otaru. Once owned by a wealthy merchant, the building dates from 1892 and has many authentic features including a storage vault and Japanese garden. You will be most welcome to enjoy the atmosphere of a home from home in the Japanese style. This property is ideal for families with children but is equally as good for solo travels and couples. If you want a traditional Japanese experience from the Showa era, the reign of Emperor Hirohito from December 25 1926 to January 1989, you should book the Japanese suite and sleep on futons on the Tatami mats. 5 people can stay in the suite with direct access to the garden. In summer a BBQ is available for guests use, Otaru is famous for its seafood and fish market and you can shop for fresh fish at the market and cook on the BBQ in the evening.The area is popular for cycling, and free use of bicycles and car hire are available at Otarunishikien. There is free WiFi throughout the property.
