Yamato-cho, located on the border of Kumamoto and Miyazaki prefectures, is said have the greatest concentration of organic farmers in Japan. It is also known as the capital of the mountain region.  This space is  surrounded by Aso's outer ring mountain to the north and by the Kyushu mountain range to the south, giving a sense of timelessness.  Yamato Saryo is set on a hill which is about three kilometres from the national highway. There are three buildings in this complex, comprising of a main building, a tea house and a traditional storehouse. While exhibiting the features of a traditional Japanese house, the interior is renovated with modern convenience in mind, making it suitable for guests from around the world.  Here you can feast on local produce while watching the mountains change with each season before the night sky appears, filled with stars from the wooden deck of the main house.

Nearby natural attractions include the Seiwa Observatory, as well as the mysterious Goro Falls. By car, Takachiho Gorge is only 30 minutes away.  Cultural attractions include a Japanese traditional puppet theatre, Heitate Shrine which is said to be the origin of the Japanese power spot, as well as Tsujyun Bridge, the largest stone aqueduct in Japan.  When you can be one with nature, you will feel a deeper sense of peace.
