abin in the mountains of Ål - Hallingdal. Gamlestugu is located 800 metres above sea level in the mountain village Vats, near the Bergsjø area. Here you will find a wide range of nature activities to choose from all year. The cabin is situated in a spacious garden in a farmyard, approx. 40 metres from the main house of the farm. The cabin itself is old and soulful, built in a traditional local style called Hallingstue. Even though fully redecorated with modern facilities in 2003, it has still kept the air of history. All rooms are on the same level, and the cabin consists of an older part with living room and kitchen, and the newer part with bathroom and 2 bedrooms. Alpine skiing are available at Skarslia Ski Center (1 km) and Ål Ski Center (about 15 km). The cottage is surrounded by a garden with and is attached to a courtyard, approx. 40 meters from the main house on the farm. As this is a self-catering cabin, be sure to bring your own sheets and towels, and all consumables (food, drink, toilet paper etc). Final cleaning must be done by guest before departure.

Ål is a village in steeply sided Hallingdal valley in the Buskerud region of Norway. The Ål area has around 50 trout fishing waters both in the valley, the rivers and on the mountains. Ål is a three hour car journey from Oslo or around four and a half hours from Bergen. Visit Ål in winter and you won’t be short for things to do, even if you are not a fan of skiing. Although the area has a great selection of downhill and cross-country options there are plenty of other winter activities to enjoy, including one of the longest toboggan runs in Norway. You can also try your hand at ice fishing in the Rødungen North (among others) in the Bergsjø area. In the summer, Ål is the perfect place to get back to nature. There are so many outdoor opportunities to explore, most notably hiking, fishing and cycling! One of the key summertime activities in Ål is trout fishing and there are many areas to explore. Ål is a great location for cycling, especially mountain biking and there is a bike park in the village. The hiking around Ål is fantastic and all enjoy commanding views of the countryside.
