Modern country accommodation situated right in the heart of Athol. This small rural community in Southland is surrounded by farming, with high country sheep and cattle stations. Located midway between Queenstown and Te Anau, the gateway to Milford Sound - New Zealand’s top travel destination!
Welcoming travellers from around the country and from around the world. In summer Athol is also very popular with cyclists wanting to ride The Around The Mountain Cycle Trail, and with anglers who enjoy fly fishing on the quiet banks of the Mataura River for brown trout.
Winter in Southland is picturesque, with snow on the surrounding hills and mountains. Athol is an excellent base for a skiing or snowboarding holiday as it is in close proximity to both The Remarkables ski field and Coronet Peak. The accommodation has dry safe lock up storage for ski and snowboard gear.

A stunning VINTAGE STEAM TRAIN built in the early 1890’s which is maintained and cared for by local volunteers. Each summer public train tours run on Sunday’s from October - May.
