Set within our vineyard near the foothills of Mt Karioi, approximately 30 minutes from Raglan, this self-contained guest house is ideal for a romantic getaway, surf retreat or peaceful escape into nature. Expansive views stretch across the vines and native bush towards the ocean. Fall asleep to the sound of breaking waves, soak beneath the stars in your private hot tub, enjoy warm west coast sunsets in summer, or relax beside the wood-burning fire during winter. There is also a ceiling fan for warmer nights. The suite has a comfortable queen bed and a fully equipped kitchen with everything needed for a self-catered stay. A Nespresso machine and locally roasted Raglan Roast coffee pods are provided. Staying here is about more than accommodation. You can book our self-guided Shelter experience, featuring tastings of five estate-grown wines and a vineyard WineWalk. Our popular guest-only wine and platter is also usually available to order and will be delivered directly to your suite. Our small-production Syrah, Rosé and Pinot Gris are grown, made and bottled here on the property. As we are some distance from restaurants, we recommend arriving prepared. The full kitchen makes self-catering easy, while the delivered wine and platter offers a relaxed alternative when available. Tea and coffee are provided, and our filtered tap water is safe to drink. Mobile reception is limited, making this an ideal place to disconnect, however we have free high-speed WiFi and a 50-inch television with Netflix. Nearby activities include surfing, hiking Mt Karioi and Te Toto Gorge, Bridal Veil Falls, and coastal sightseeing. This is a working vineyard, so occasional noisy vineyard activities may take place during your stay.

Like many kiwis, David, Haylee and their two daughters, Zoe and Elyse, have a strong connection to the sea. David enjoys looking after the vines and crafting wine, with any spare time spent surfing. As a healthcare professional Haylee has a passion for people. Our friendly golden retriever, Daisy, is always happy to accept a few extra pats. We know many guests prefer to enjoy privacy, but if you’re looking for recommendations for activities and exploring, we love sharing our knowledge of the local area. We live in the main house next door and are usually available if needed - just message us or come up and knock on our door.

Remote rugged West Coast, known for it's great surfing, fishing, and hiking. While it’s a journey worth taking, there is 4km of gravel road to reach us. It adds to the charm of our remote location, but if you’re not comfortable with driving your vehicle on gravel, this may not be the right accommodation for you.
