After all recommendations from friends and family we were...
After all recommendations from friends and family we were extremely disappointed. Maybe the time of the year contributed to the scruffinoess of the plants - ie dead heading plants and cutting the lawns would have made such a difference. As visitors to Hamilton we would happily have given a donation but felt $18.00 each as a pair of Senior Citizens was extreme. However we wish all involved in the running and maintenance of the gardens all the very best.

A great garden well worth a visit but now they are charging non Hamilton residents $20 will not go again, if they had reduced it for gold card or other Waikato residents would consider it as the restaurant is great

Amazing gardens - have separate gardens for different...
Amazing gardens - have separate gardens for different countries/cultures. You will want to spend a few hours there. plenty of walking to do. There is also a restaurent in the gardens. You can also catch a boat ride down the river that borders the gardens- book and pay at the city's information centre.

Hamilton Gardens are fantastic, as they have lots of new garden areas, however, I do struggle to follow the convoluted map of the whole gardens! It's difficult to match the map to the actual areas and routes to walk to see them all. A few more arrows on signs along the way would help!

Hamilton Gardens totally changed my mind about the coolness of gardens and arboretums. It is world class. It has inspired me to go out of my way to see similar gardens and arboretums in larger cities. and 'It's Free!" Great place available for tasty, healthy lunch, a cuppa, or a cool one. Parking is easy. Don't go to Hamilton without seeing it.

Our room at Colonial City Motel was exceptionally clean and the staff checked in each day to remove rubbish and change towels. The location for us was great as we were visiting the Hamilton Gardens. It was also great to be able to walk to restaurants for meals. The beds were very comfy!

The Albert Court Motor Lodge is well maintained and easy to access. The beds are comfortable and it was quiet. But what stood out the most was the helpfulness and kindness of the reception manager. We visited the Hamilton Gardens, which are nearby, and were super impressed. There are also a number of restaurants within easy reach of the lodge. The rooms were well furnished, clean, and included coffee/tea and milk.

Comfortable, clean room and friendly staff. The bed was a bit firmer than other motels we stayed at on our NZ trip, which was a plus as we like firmer mattresses! Great location to visit both Hamilton Gardens and the zoo. :)

The locality was what I wanted. As I was on my own I did not have a vehicle but still able to walk to visit the museum, church, river walkway and shopping. I was in Hamilton for a family birthday so didn't have a lot of time to visit the

The location was a little distant from the main part of town so we used Uber to travel to an very good restaurant. The room was excellent, very clean and with all required equipment. The car could be parked right outside the room. Checking in was at a different location about 3 km away, which was a little inconvenient, however, this worked well if you have a sat nav. Our goal was to visit Hamilton Gardens which was achieved and they are stunning. An enjoyable stay.
