If you have time, it would be lovely to meet you and give you any local tips on the area. Pop in for a chat, step back in time and soak up the old school vibe. You will find quality preloved treasures of yesteryear. You never know what you may find.

Lake Manapouri has been described as The Jewel of the Fiordland Lakes District. From Catnap Cottage it is a short, 5-minute walk down to the Waiau River where the Doubtful Sound cruises depart and return. To the right you can then follow the river to Lake Manapouri for a stroll along Frasers Beach. The views are tranquil and spectacular, capturing the dramatic Mountains of The Cathedral Peaks, The Monument and some of the many beautiful vistas of Fiordland's National Park. Manapouri can be sunny and warm, misty and mystical, wet and wild. Be sure to dress appropriately as each day can be completely different. The township has a bar and restaurant called The Church. It is best to book to ensure seating. The Dairy has a cafe and supplies the basics but is closed on Tuesdays so be sure to have what you need with you. Te Anau,(20-minute drive) has two Supermarkets open 7 days for all the added extras. The Two Wee Bookshops are well worth a visit. Ruth Shaw and her husband Lance run these iconic shops. They specialise in Southern New Zealand, sub-Antarctic, rare, Māori and natural history books. There is a children's bookshop, books on hunting, fishing, tractors and trains, holiday reads and, of course, Ruth is the bestselling author of "The Bookseller at the End of the World" and "Bookshop Dogs". Manapouri is the perfect location to spend time away from the hustle and bustle. Everything is within easy walking distance from Catnap Cottage.
