The Chalet is a stand alone open plan beach house. Our aim is to assure our guests of privacy, however, we are also available if needed for any queries or local information. The views to the front are of the estuary, sea and sand dunes and to the back, to the farm, garden and mountains.
I love living in a small friendly community as Mangawhai is, however, it does add another dimension to meet visitors to the Chalet from around New Zealand and around the world. I am proud of the environment we live in with so many things to do and places to go. I am a member of our beautiful golf club which is open to visitors. We have many local walks in particular the clifftop walk from the end of the beach. At the end of the day there are many places to have a meal or drink. Please ask if you have any questions or need suggestions for your time here in Mangawhai.
Our museum is well worth a visit if history is of interest to you. Further inland are 4 separate vineyards - the drive alone to see them is well worth the time. We have 2 major local markets on Saturday with fresh vegetables, cheese, wine, arts and crafts, clothing plus much more. We are within close range to many beaches including Langes and Waipu, both a 10 minute drive north. Our own beach is attended by life savers with the most crystal clear waters you could ever hope to swim in, and very regular surf for those liking the waves. Picnic Bay at the harbour entrance and the estuary provide more calm water swimming.
