I somehow had booked for the night after the day our intended arrival. Though she was not expecting us, the manager, Mihi, quicly made some adjustments and welcomed my son and I in. Needless to say, my error was quickly, and unhestitaingly, managed by Mihi, and in we went. The Left Bank is a beautifully renovated very old building and the interior is absolutely beautiful. It was like being in a Victorian age bedroom with period furnishings! What a wonderful experience. Our car was locked inside a secure area which Mihi directed us to and again opened in the morning to recover our car. Could not have been more pleased with the stay, it was perfect!

It is an historic hotel, so the rooms are small, however, the reason for staying was the history and location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is available. Location is central and is perfect for strolling around town and enjoying the waterfront. Dinner was delicious in the hotel restaurant.

We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous top floor apartment with all the amenities. We especially appreciated the full laundry facilities and the kind hosts, especially Eva the manager and Marjorie the cleaning lady. The apartment was impeccably clean, the beds were very comfortable and the views of the bay are magnificent. We loved every minute of it!

I liked the customer service the best with Te Ra Waitangi.

I liked the customer service the best with Te Ra Waitangi. They really went out of their way to accommodate us, especially since the allocated home was damaged in a storm the night before our arrival and they found us another place. Also met us at the office after hours and guided us to the new home. The home was really clean, warm and had great views across the beachfront. Paihia was beautiful as ever and although wet, Waitangi was really good visit as well. Our accommodation was well situated as a hub to go exploring during the days, visiting places like Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Russell, even Cape Reinga. We would definitely book here again :)

There is a car ferry from Opua to Okiato which makes the trip across to the Waitangi Treaty grounds very easy and accessible. There is also a passenger ferry to Paihia. The village might seem remote, and that is certainly its charm, but it is not completely cut off from the world. Also, so much history to learn about and enjoy as you walk along The Strand. Don’t forget to visit the tiny timber Christ Church with its old graves and amazing history - the oldest continuously operating church in New Zealand, and apparently once supported by a donation from Charles Darwin (yes, the famous 19th century evolutionist). The locals are very friendly and helpful, and love a chat. There are supermarkets, a post office/bookshop, beautiful craft and art shops, plenty of good places to eat, and stunning views across the bay.
