Fantail River Lodge is set on the Waitangi River and is ideally located for exploring the Beautiful Bay of Islands. We are only a short drive away from Paihia where a ferry can take you across to historic Russell. Kerikeri is only 15 minutes drive away where you will find a fantastic market every weekend, plus we have plenty of Vineyards for you to explore Our property is set on 2 acres of native bush leading down to the Waitangi River where in the summer you can enjoy the BBQ and covered seating area. Our rooms are all separate from the main house which allows you as much privacy as you like. The Loft is a pet fully self contained unit with a private fenced garden; there is also a small BBQ on your private deck. The Fantail room in the Pavilion has its own private deck with a table and chairs looking into the garden, and the Kingfisher room has beautiful views into the gardens with a seating area on the small decking area (these rooms are not suitable for pets) Fantail River Lodge is only 16 years old and is quite unique in its design; we are situated just off the main road into Paihia but it feels like you are in the country when you start to explore the gardens
We look forward to welcoming you to Fantail River Lodge where you can do as much or as little as you like. We are always on hand to help you with any questions you may have with regard to things to do and see in the area. As a couple originally from the UK ( we have been here for 26 years) the Bay of Islands has always had a special place in our hearts. We feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful home and welcome the chance to share the property with you.
We are ideally located for exploring Paihia, Haruru and Kerikeri. Located in Haruru you will find the Phat House Brewery which serves a great selection of beers and they also make great Pizzas. The Phat House is also pet friendly so if you are staying in the Loft you can take your fur baby with you. Paihia has a great range of eateries rating from simple food to fine dining, and while you are here you must visit the famous Duke of Marlborough over in Russell. There are lots of Vineyards in the surrounding area, what better way to spend an afternoon!! There are two Golf courses nearby and of course lots of excursions that you can book
