Our property is in a secluded area surrounded by bush with views over farmland to the distant ocean. Our name comes from the sunrise which can be viewed from the studio each day. There is a selection of poetry, art and history books for you to peruse to enhance your quiet stay in this peaceful environment. Privacy are guaranteed and you will hopefully continue your journey feeling very relaxed.

We have lived here for 20 years and have slowly developed a property which includes a large orchard with a wide range of fruit trees including unusual and sub tropicals. We also recently planted an olive grove which we look forward to expanding. We enjoy outdoor activities which include fishing, kayakying, hiking, swimming and of course gardening. Joe is a history buff with knowledge ranging from Napoleonic wars to Maori history while I'm a collector and avid reader of poetry.

Mangawhai is well known as a beach and surf spot but has recently grown to include facilities to cater for the holiday visitor and local alike. There are many walking tracks and and delightful places to eat and drink including two wineries 20 minutes from our accomodation.
