The rest of the experience is designed to be low-impact and immersive, making it ideal for couples, solo travellers, or anyone seeking a quiet rural retreat. Kay and Colin Jackson bought this paddock back in 1989 and have spent years building their home, garden, and small farm — truly living the Kiwi dream. Depending on the season, you may see sheep, lambs, or steers (fixed male cows). Please note this is a working lifestyle block, so: • Leave gates as you find them • Don’t be alarmed if sheep are on the move • You may hear neighbouring dairy farmers moving cows in the mornings Colin (now 81!) still lives on the farm, along with me, AJ, his daughter. We keep to ourselves so you can enjoy your privacy, but you’re very welcome to pop up and say hi — and feel free to pick lavender from the driveway if it’s out. You may also get a visit from Olivia, our very friendly cat who thinks she’s a farm dog. She’s a great hunter, so you might see her proudly at work.
