Pukemara Retreat sits on private 2.7ha property in the heart of the stunning Otago Peninsula. Surrounded by beautiful New Zealand native plants including alpines. Pukemara means "cultivated hill", you can explore the native bush with pathways that will also lead you through to the top of the hill to magnificent views of Hooper's and Papanui Inlets, Allans and Victory Beaches, Harbour Cone, the back of Larnach Castle and across to Sandfly Beach.
The accommodation is a two bedroom (one queen bed and one single bed), one bathroom cottage. Full kitchen facilities for cooking. Comfortable lounge with good WIFI and smart TV to be able to stream your favourite programmes. We provide a simple continental breakfast, cereal, toast and spreads. Along with milk, butter, tea, coffee, hot chocolate.
There is no washing machine however there is a tub in the bathroom if needing to rinse any items.
The accommodation has its own private driveway and parking right outside the Cottage.
We both have a passion for sharing the absolute wonder and beauty of the stunning Otago Peninsula. We have spent many hours walking, exploring and enjoying all this area has to offer. We love our property, the short climb to the top of the hill is a daily excursion and never fails to inspire, create peace and fills your cup! We want others to be able to share in these experiences too. We live on the same property about 50metres from our guest accommodation. So there is privacy for both and accessibility if needed.
We have nine chickens, which you may see around your accommodation.
Pukemara Retreat is located directly beside the historic Lime Kilns, you can walk out the front door and take a short walk to explore the restored historic kilns. A short 5 minute drive will take you to the beginning of the walk to Hereweka Harbour Cone Track.
Easy access to beaches with an amazing array of wildlife, fur seals, sea lions, little blue penguins, yellow eyed penguins, albatross, native NZ birds and more.
Also close by is the Royal Albatross Centre, Blue Penguins Pukekura, Fletcher House, Glenfalloch Gardens and many wonderful walking tracks. Your hosts Dave and Debbie are very happy to share their local knowledge and advice on special places to explore. Just 20 minutes from Central Dunedin
