One end of our rather large house has been sectioned off to create a private guest suite, which includes a sauna, deck and patio with private car parking and your own entrance. Everything has been designed with the aim of giving guests as much privacy as possible, but you are more than welcome to say hello if you wish. The unit can sleep 7 when using the bunk room. The master bedroom, which sleeps 2-3, has its own lock and opens onto the deck. A small kitchenette provides the basic necessities with hot and cold filtered water in a small sink along with utensils, cups and plates. The lounge includes a fridge, microwave and toaster with a fold out dining table. Continental breakfast is provided, which includes fruit, yoghurt, milk, bread for toast and some preserves. Parts of the unit have been recently painted and there is new carpet through most of the rooms. The deck is also sectioned off to give our guests privacy and you can fire up your own BBQ and relax on the deck couch. The property, with splendid views of Mount Ruapehu (2797m), is set on a rural 1.6ha lifestyle block complete with sheep, chickens and a goat named Harriet. It is quiet and peaceful...a place to escape the busy world, sit on the deck, admire the view and relax.

Your host is a retired teacher who enjoys hiking, climbing and working on the lifestyle block.

Rangataua is a small, quiet, rural community, which is about 4km from Ohakune and 20km from Turoa Ski field. We are 500m off a major highway that links major cities throughout the North Island. Ohakune boasts a number of restaurants, various shops, service industries, petrol station and a supermarket. You can hire ski equipment in Ohakune or on the mountain. There is also a bike shop that provides assistance with ski gear, bikes and adventure tours. Many people come to bike the Old Coach Road and other trails around the district.
