Standing in the corridor in front of the room, you can see both Mount Ruapenu and Mount Ngauruhoe at the same time. The view is incredible. In unit #10, you can see the snow-capped mountains while lying in bed. Thought the unit near street, but Mary prepared earplugs in the room. Once closed door and windows at night, the noise is ok. I’m actually a light sleeper, but that night I slept very well, I woke up by alarm in the morning! Mary who runs this motel is so nice and so kind, she is very considerate of customers’ needs. She helped me a lot for checkin and check out time. I’m so thankful!!! The unit is very big and super clean. There are no odors smell in the kitchen or around the sink. The towels and bed sheets are very clean, the bed is comfortable. Everything let you feel clean and pleasant.

Backpacker style accomodation that fits the town in which it's located. That being said, they do what they do well. Great kitchen, very welcoming common rooms, comfortable bedding, clean bathrooms. The welcome from Tracey at the front desk was most appreciated.

Have to make sure that the weather is good before you decide to go. Book the accomodate that is with free cancellation, as if the weather is bad, then there is nothing much you can do there. In summer, hiking the tongariro, in winter, go ski.

We had a wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel was very clean, warm, and comfortable. The owner told us he designed and built the hotel himself, and he and his partner run it with great care. They were incredibly kind and gave us many helpful travel tips. One morning, our car windows were frozen, and she kindly brought us a bucket of water to help clear the ice. We really appreciated her thoughtfulness. Their warm hospitality made us feel at home. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

It is super cold in the mountains, so I highly recommend packing extra warm clothes and other warm layers. National Park is a small town, but it still has plenty of good places to eat (no Maccas though). I would recommend 'The Station' for some yummy breakfast.

Beautiful spot, volcanos showed out multiple days during trip. Walked from town to falls off Fisher trail second full day, excellent contrast to the crossing, a sheltered forest walk. Only complaint was limited food choices in town, Adventures lodge had an excellent guest kitchen, I would have used it more if I'd known in advance.

The Tongariro Crossing day hike is spectacular and very popular. You can expect to share the trail with a couple thousand other hikers on a good weather day. Try to allow yourself a couple days in the area in case the weather is foul one day. The hike probably isn't worth doing if the clouds are so low there is no visibility (and could even be dangerous). The park in general is amazing and offers lots of hiking and sightseeing options. Be sure to stop by the visitor center to learn more about the area. They have some excellent films and displays.

Adventure lodge is a fabulous place to stay in the tongariro national park. We are so glad we picked it. On check in, we were kindly upgraded rooms and our room was spotless with everything we needed. It was cosy and perfect for us and felt very homely. When we were there the weather meant the crossing was cancelled but the owner was so kind and helpful in suggesting many other activities we could do including a fantastic alternative walk the tama lakes. Book this accomodation, it is great

Well located in the heart of National Park. It has a massive kitchen and an amazing indoor rock climbing wall. All staff members were nice and kind. Easy access and easy to park. Easy access to the bar and restaurant next door. Great location for the Tongariro crossing too.
