After travelling around NZ for 5 years on with our two children we have returned home to The Retreat, overlooking the beautiful Bay of Islands. We offer breathtaking views & abundant native bird-life, are obsessed with the Far North scenery and spend too much time watching spectacular sunsets, stargazing & birdwatching! Jo grew up in the iconic Smiths Holiday Camp and is a 3rd generation local host. Marcel moved here from Holland 20 years ago. He looks after the property, our family and is an amazing host. Prepare to be spoilt...

The Retreat Bay of Islands offers spacious, self-contained holiday accommodation overlooking the magnificent Bay of Islands and Te Haumi Beach. Set just off the main road on a native bush-covered peninsula, our quiet, private and low key holiday accommodation awaits you. The Retreat has fully self contained studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. The uninterrupted, panoramic sea views and coastal location are breathtaking and the private bush setting of our accommodation allows you to see native New Zealand birds at close range.

We have direct access to the Opua - Paihia Coastal Walkway while being only minutes drive from the Paihia town centre and an extensive range of Bay of Islands cruises, activities and eateries. Or leave the hectic pace of life behind you, relax on your private balcony and watch the day go by...
