A Casa do Lado is currently run by Vanessa, an enthusiastic person that enjoys to meet new places and people of the world. As a result, she envisioned creating a place in his own hometown where they would be able to provide visitors to the island with the comfort and warmth that they value during their travels. Since March 2010 she have been working with an enthusiastic team to build up A Casa do Lado into such a place. Based on guests' much appreciated impressions and feedback, A Casa do Lado has been progressing day after day, into a comfortable, welcoming, quality guesthouse.

A Casa do Lado opened its doors to the public as a newly rennovated guesthouse in 2003. It is built on some centuries of history, though, and some of the remains that are found in the actual guesthouse's courtyard showcase just that. A Casa do Lado is bound by three main principles: client satisfaction, team work and commitment towards a better environment. The owners live in the house just next door and take pride in managing the guesthouse as a family-run small business, with an involved team and proximity to its guests. In fact, this is apparent in the name of the property: A Casa do Lado literally means "the house next door".

A Casa do Lado is at the heart of Horta, in its historic and administrative center. Being at A Casa do Lado allows you to feel as part of the island community, forgetting for moments that you are a visitor. This because as soon as you walk out the door, you find yourself absorbed by the local daily routines, with public services, the municipal market, banks, grocery stores, bakeries and a wide variety of shops, all within arm's reach. For the tourist in you, there are great spots worth the 3-5 minute walk: municipal gardens, Horta Museum, the Matriz Church, the main promenade with beautiful views to the sea and Pico island. Useful locations are also just that close: bus and taxi stands, great restaurants, cafés, ATMs, the public library (computers with free internet)... Being so central, we are literally at comfortable walking distance (1-30 minutes) from all points of interest in the city, including the famous Peter Café Sport, the 2 city beaches, the world renowned Horta marina and some of Faial Natural Park visitor's centers.
