We’re Leonardo and Nivalda, your hosts here at A-Tipica Guesthouse, nestled in a beautiful, century-old building just steps from the heart of Ponta Delgada on the incredible island of São Miguel. Our journey together started on a tiny Cambodian island, where we—an Italian and an Azorean—met while running a glamping retreat and guesthouse. Life led us back to Europe, and now we couldn’t be happier to call São Miguel our home. This island is a paradise for nature lovers, with lush forests, volcanic lakes, and stunning ocean views, as well as a community of warm, welcoming people. We’re excited to share all of this with you. Leonardo has spent years traveling the world, always drawn to nature and cultures that inspire him to stay awhile and soak in local life. For Nivalda, as a psychologist, meeting new people and creating a truly welcoming space is a joy. We’ve poured our hearts into A-Tipica, carefully updating this lovely old building with personal touches from our travels. Here at A-Tipica, we want you to feel truly at home—a place that may be modest but has a warmth no castle can match. Our wish is that each guest feels the heart and soul we’ve put into making this a space to relax, explore, and feel part of São Miguel. We’re here to make your stay unforgettable.

Situated next to Campo de São Francisco and the Forte de São Brás, A-Típica Guesthouse enjoys a prime location in Ponta Delgada, close to the airport and surrounded by historic and cultural landmarks. We’re just steps from the Church of São José and the Church of Nosso Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres, remarkable examples of Azorean religious architecture. Only 300 meters away, the Forte de São Brás marks the starting point of Ponta Delgada’s marina and waterfront promenade, a lovely walking area along the sea. A short stroll from the city center, our guests can explore charming **Portuguese cobblestone streets** (calçadas portuguesas), traditional architecture, nearby cafés, local markets, and the iconic Portas da Cidade. In the neighborhood, there’s also a supermarket and a restaurant serving authentic Azorean cuisine. With easy access to the airport and São Miguel’s main attractions, A-Típica is the perfect starting point to experience the culture, history, and natural beauty of the Azores.
