The village has maintained its traditional serenity alongside a beautiful and interesting natural and architectural heritage. Here one can see and access the wonderful islet of Vila Franca do Campo, located about 1 km from the town's coast, in a crater of an extinct volcano, classified as a Nature Reserve and requested in the summer months. Vila Franca do Campo is proud of his Church of the fifteenth century “São Miguel Arcanjo”, the beautiful “Ermida Nossa Senhora da Paz”, the beautiful Church of “São Pedro” or the interesting Municipal Museum which covers anthropology and ethnology of region. Throughout the region, the nature shows its excellence, surrounded by the typical green of São Miguel Island, offering landscapes of great beauty, such as the Pont’s: “Lagoa do Fogo, “Lagoa do Congro” e “Lagoa dos Nenúfares”. Much appreciated are the Queijadas Village famous with origins in "Santo André" Convent, still made according to a recipe kept secret for two families of the earth, and the artifacts and dishes in clay, following today ancient traditions.
