Casa Monte Queimado is situation on Rua da Rosa, the old road which passes over one side of Monte Queimado and is lined by small fisherman’s cottages that back up into the mountains side, giving them panoramic views back onto Porto Pim, across the city and into the Harbour. The cottage was renovated in 2022 in order to offer a special and unique place to stay in town for our guests. The house was built over many decades from early the 1900s. The house therefore has a unique style being built up upon the side of Mount Queimado. Be aware therefore that this style of build is not suitable for those with mobility issues or those who don't like stairs. The living room is on the ground floor, sleeping areas on the first floor and kitchen and bathroom on the second floor. The roof terrace and gardens are then accessed via an external staircase, but when you get there, it is well worth the climb, offering guests a commanding view over the beach, ocean, cityscape and harbour.

George Bevan runs a non-profit called Conservation Diver. The organisation aims to increase the capacities of local managers and divers in order to better equip marine conservationists to teach and conduct scientific analysis of marine ecosystems. George also manages a charity called Daughters of the Deep, which aims to "equalise the oceans" by helping more women gain the skills, training and opportunities to enter maritime careers.

Faial (Ilha do Faial) is an island in the Central Group (Grupo Central) of the Azores, lying on the Eurasian plate along the Terceira Rift. The volcanic island has also been referred to as the Blue Island (Ilha Azul) due to the large quantity of hydrangeas that bloom during the summer months, as portrayed in the poems by the Portguese poet Raul Brandão. Together with the neighbouring Pico and São Jorge, the islands are often referred to as the Triângulo. On most days you are able see all three islands at once, with the peak of Pico slicing though the clouds that are pulled towards it. Faial became famous through its invaluable worth to sailors crossing the Atlantic, with Horta becoming the necessary stop and the safe port for the trans-Atlantic sail traffic. The harbour in Horta is a bustling hub for the sailing community, the area being full of excitement, stories from the sea, the kissing of dry land and celebration. Friends from across the oceans meet up to take a cooling sip on the islands famous Gin & Tonics. A tradition spanning generations, also makes Horta the most colourful harbour in the world, as its walls have become a great open air exhibition of sailor paintings.
