George runs a non-profit called Conservation Diver, that provides training and certification in scientific diving to reef manager and marine conservationist around the globe. He also runs a charity called Daughters of the Deep, which aims in 'equalise the oceans', allowing more women to gain access to maritime careers.

A lovingly restored fisherman’s cottage located in the sought after bay of Porto Pim, Casa Volta do Mar offers self catered accommodation with a stunning multi-levelled garden up the side of Monte Queimado, with views of the beach and Atlantic ocean to the right and to the left, the harbour in Horta where you can watch the sailing boats travelling in and out. This cottage is the perfect place for couples to stay to enjoy the beauty of the natural landscape within the city of Horta. Casa Volta do Mar is situation on Rua da Rosa, the old road which passes over one side of Monte Queimado and is lined by small fisherman’s cottages that back up into the mountains side, giving them panoramic views back onto Porto Pim, across the city and into the Harbour. The cottage was renovated in 2021 to a high specification in order to offer a special and unique place to stay in town for our guests. It has a large open plan living area with stylish kitchen, comfortable living area with log burning fire and dining area with views onto the courtyard bursting with colourful tiles. There is a double bedroom and modern bathroom. Outside is an amazing tiered garden with bbq area.

Faial (Ilha do Faial) is an island in the Central Group (Grupo Central) of the Azores, lying on the Eurasian plate along the Terceira Rift. The volcanic island has also been referred to as the Blue Island (Ilha Azul) due to the large quantity of hydrangeas that bloom during the summer months, as portrayed in the poems by the Portguese poet Raul Brandão. Together with the neighbouring Pico and São Jorge, the islands are often referred to as the Triângulo. On most days you are able see all three islands at once, with the peak of Pico slicing though the clouds that are pulled towards it. Faial became famous through its invaluable worth to sailors crossing the Atlantic, with Horta becoming the necessary stop and the safe port for the trans-Atlantic sail traffic. The harbour in Horta is a bustling hub for the sailing community, the area being full of excitement, stories from the sea, the kissing of dry land and celebration. Friends from across the oceans meet up to take a cooling sip on the islands famous Gin & Tonics. A tradition spanning generations, also makes Horta the most colourful harbour in the world, as its walls have become a great open air exhibition of sailor paintings.
