Foz is the seaside of Porto, where the Douro gives way to the Atlantic Ocean. A once fishing village turned high-class, where the tranquility of the long promenades by the ocean and traditional streets sided with decade-old trees pave the way to boutique shopping and some of the best restaurants in town. Just a few steps away from several beaches (both in Foz and Matosinhos, a fishing village nearby where you can find some of the best fish and seafood restaurants), the river Douro walk path to downtown Porto and the Passeio Alegre park. If you choose to move around by public transportation, it takes only around 15 minutes to get to downtown Porto. In the surroundings there is an amazing variety of local and high-end restaurants, trendy shops and bars with lovely terraces, that I’ll be happy to recommend.
