Matriz Guest House opened to the public in April 2018. With typical Azorean construction, it is a century old house with 3 floors, in which the use of basaltic stone masonry, wooden floors and high windows stands out. It was recently rehabilitated using typical materials as well as the introduction of some more modern notes to ensure more comfort. This property offers a guest room and suite, each with a private bathroom and individually rented. Breakfast is served in a common breakfast room where the offer of typical and homemade products from the region is evident. The house has a view on one side of the hills of Lagoa do Fogo and the city and on the other side of the city center with the Igreja da Matriz in the foreground and the sea and coast of the island that extends to Brittany. You can enjoy a magnificent sunset that offers us a stunning daily show! We'll be waiting for your visit!

Hello! I was born and raised on the island of São Miguel where I have always had the opportunity to enjoy our pure, green and unique nature. Since I was a child I felt especially connected to the sea, the beach being one of my favorite places. I feel privileged to live in this little paradise and that is why I believe it is worth coming to know it. I endeavored to prepare a space that makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. For breakfast I offer you typical and homemade products so that you can taste our genuine flavors. My family and I will be delighted to welcome you as hosts.

The Matriz Guest House is located in the historic heart of the city of Ribeira Grande, on the north coast, in a strategic position with excellent access to explore the entire island. It is a few meters from the Nossa Senhora da Estrela Church and the municipal square, monuments, restaurants, beaches and services. Despite being in the city center, the street where it is located is very calm and quiet.
