An old and historical building previously belonging to the family of the Pottery Factory, located right in the heart of Ponta Delgada, next to the church of São Sebastião, was completely rebuilt in 2019 and adapted into 3 independent, modern and minimalistic apartments that offer an exceptional and relaxing stay. After the restoration, the building was named Matriz Lofts and today it offers wide-open spaces divided into the Mediterranean, Azores and Industrial lofts. The concept of the Mediterranean apartment is themed around the aesthetic of Mediterranean style which resembles a blend of Spanish and Italian architecture. This loft is a dream for someone who appreciates simple, yet elegant spaces, wood, natural materials, and romantic balconies. Azores loft is inspired by the Azorian nature where simple yet refined materials such as cryptomeria with the integration of a glorious touch of colors are being used. A cozy private terrace with the most beautiful views of the church may give you a different perspective of staying in Ponta Delgada. The industrial loft is completed with the cozy fireplace, hardwood floor, live-work spaces, large windows, tall ceilings, and a terrace.

The host, Nuno, working as a captain on private yachts and having a chance to travel to the most remote places on earth by sailing boat, has always had a dream to come back to his homeland Sao Miguel and build a unique project to welcome travelers from around the world, providing the best possible experience of the Azores island. Therefore, the interior, furniture, and decorations were carefully selected and brought from different countries to create special and custom made designs. After living in the ocean for the last twenty years and completing 2 circumnavigations, Nuno believes that it totally makes sense to travel by boat, as 70% of our earth consists of water, so what a better way to experience traveling and visit the most distant but fascinating places and people? Currently, Nuno is back to Sao Miguel with his family and feels that it could not be a better time to give back and hosts guests in his hometown in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
