Welcome to our peaceful off-grid guest house with a shared outdoor pool, set in a forested valley at the foothills of Monchique in the western Algarve. Powered by solar energy and supplied with filtered, drinkable well water, it offers a comfortable countryside escape within easy driving distance of the coast and nearby towns. The guest house accommodates up to six guests and is ideal for couples, families, small groups of friends and guests seeking a quiet countryside stay for remote work. Fast Starlink Wi-Fi is available throughout the guest house and main outdoor guest areas, with generous desk and dining space for working comfortably. The main bedroom has a double bed and a spacious desk area with seating for three. The second bedroom has two single beds. The open-plan living and dining area provides comfortable seating, a sofa bed and additional sleeping space for the fifth and sixth guests. The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas hob, large fridge and freezer, cookware and everyday essentials. During cooler weather, a pellet stove warms the main living area, with gas heaters provided in both bedrooms. Outside, guests have a private terrace beneath a mature carob tree, with an additional sunshade and an outdoor dining table seating up to six. The shared swimming pool is set in a sunny clearing with sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Free parking is available on site. The nearest beach in Alvor is approximately 15 minutes away by car. Portimão, Lagos and Monchique are generally within a 20–25-minute drive. We live nearby in a separate home and are available when needed while respecting guests’ privacy. The property is in a peaceful rural location with limited public transport, so arriving by car is strongly recommended.

Austin and Christina live nearby on the property in a separate home and are happy to help whenever needed. They respect guests’ privacy and generally leave them to enjoy the guest house, the valley and the shared pool at their own pace. As they are often working during the day, the easiest way to reach them is through the messaging service. They will respond as soon as possible.

Although the property feels secluded, the coast and nearby towns are within easy driving distance. The nearest beach in Alvor is approximately 15 minutes away, while Portimão, Lagos and the mountain town of Monchique can generally be reached within 20–25 minutes. The area is ideal for guests who want to combine quiet time in nature with beach days, coastal walks and visits to the western Algarve’s towns and restaurants. A car is strongly recommended, as shops, beaches and public transport are not within walking distance. Having your own hire car or motorcycle is the best option for getting around, unless you're just looking for a tranquil retreat, in which case, a taxi to and from will suffice. The house is accessed via a winding 200-meter dirt road.
