I am, first and foremost, a man of the sea. Sailing, the ocean and diving are not just part of my life — they are my way of being in the world. In the 1990s, I left Viana do Castelo in search of new opportunities in the capital. I set off with dreams and a desire to grow, like so many others. Life took me far away, opened doors for me, and gave me experiences and horizons I could never have imagined. But there are places that cannot be left behind. Viana has never left me. It has remained within me like a constant tide — in my childhood memories, in the voices of the people, in the traditions that stand the test of time, in the salty scent of the Atlantic, and in that deep connection that only those born by the ocean can truly understand. Viana is not just the town I came from. It is the root that anchors me. Today, through my sailing boat, I seek to give back a little of that connection to the sea and to the town that shaped me. Every time I set sail is a homecoming. Every voyage is a way of rediscovering Viana on the horizon.
