'Hale Iki' is a hidden treasure located in Volcano, Hawai'i. It is hand crafted entirely of cedar. The cottage is only 5 minutes away from Volcanoes National Park. You’ll love the coziness, privacy, high ceilings, loft, full kitchen, wood burning stove, and two-person tub. This house was built by my grandfather 30 years ago, and has retained the charm and warmth that he crafted into this cozy cottage. The cottage is accessed by a small footpath from the driveway into the lush green rainforest. The privacy of hale iki provides total peace and quiet with nothing more than the natural noises of the environment: chirping birds, frogs and rain. The wrap around lanai (porch) is covered so that you can still enjoy the fresh air without getting wet from the rain. The cottage is cozy, with an inviting living room and large glass windows to view the rain forest outside. With tall ceilings, and lots of natural light from skylights and windows, this cozy cottage feels spacious and inviting. Unwind to the crackling of the wood burning stove for you to use at your leisure. The walk-in, two-person tub is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows to give you the experience of bathing in the rain forest. Feel free to relax with your own music on our bluetooth or aux-connected speaker. The bed is located in an upstairs loft with a TV to connect to any of your streaming accounts. The high-speed wifi will allow you to stay connected. If you prefer, you can snuggle in one of our papasan chairs to read a book or watch TV. This cottage is one of a kind and will make you feel right at home. The best part about this place is the peace and quiet it gives you. It's hidden away from the main road giving it complete privacy, allowing you to enjoy the lush green jungle. Guests will have full access to all amenities including high-speed wifi, video-tv streaming, bluetooth speaker, wood-burning fireplace, outdoor dining, full kitchen, washer and dryer, and the best bathtub with a stunning view!

Volcano is a tiny town which offers some delicious dining, and the bare essentials. It is located just outside of Volcanoes National Park. I recommend a wine tasting at the local winery, our local Thai restaurant, and the farmers market at the community center.
