Beautiful home that is well maintained and has all the fun little discoveries there. We found the games drawer on the morning that we were leaving. We will probably stay here on our next visit to St Augustine.

The location of the property was in a lovely residential neighborhood. From there it was an easy walk to local restaurants and shops, as well as the Downtown museums and other entertainment. The cottage itself was well appointed and clean.

St. Augustine Cottage in Historic Lincolnville - walk to downtown!

Neighborhood info

The Lincolnville neighborhood is on the National Registry of Historic Places. And for good reason! The North West part of Lincolnville - the area where Weeden Cottage sits - was one of the first orange groves in the United States. The orange grove - Yalaha - was owned by Abraham Lincolns private secretary, John Hay, hence the name Lincolnville. In 1964, this neighborhood played a vital role in the Civil Rights movement. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent the weeks leading up to the passage of the Civil Rights Act right here. Visit the ACCORD Civil Rights Museum and the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center for important stories about this time in our history. After the Emancipation Proclamation was read here in 1862, this neighborhood was one of the first places freed slaves were able to buy land, for one dollar per year. At the time it was called Little Africa. Download the Florida Stories App and listen to the St. Augustine Lincolnville walking tour for captivating stories about this diverse, interesting, welcoming neighborhood.
