This beautiful home was built in 1880 as a "Nagmaalhuijs" translated house of communion and located directly behind the NG Church. Farmers built these homes to come Into town for a weekend, go to church, take communion and exchange news and information with friends and neighbors. It has been lovingly renovated to modernize the home while keeping the Karoo vernacular of peace and tranquility in a setting of beauty. A large stoep entrance has inviting benches to sit and watch the sunset or world go by. A large great room with traditional high oregon wood ceilings and floors and a unique kitchenette providing hot beverages, refrigerator, microwave and sink. A large bedroom with queen bed, comfy chair and separate bathroom with bathtub, shower and antique wash stand and basin provides a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Jasper born and raised in South Africa and Jari a native Californian are a married couple who love design, foreign places and people. After living in California for 20 years, they took a year sabbatical that culminated with them realizing the time was right to return home to South Africa. After living in Cape Town for several years and doing various design projects, their love of the Karoo led them to discover the peace and beauty of Prince Albert and decided to make it their home. It is their desire that the same peace and comfort they have come to know will also become their guests' experience.

Mark Street is one of 6 streets that make up the town of Prince Albert. Built primarily in the 1800's-1900's it offers a wonderful pictorial image of the architecture and lifestyle of that period with the reflection of Karoo living at its best. This home is located in the center of town which allows for walkability to all the town has to offer including easy hiking and biking trails of the surrounding hills and Swartberg mountains. Take in a beautiful sunrise while enjoying coffee or tea on the front stoep or take sunset walks and star gazing (some of the most beautiful in South Africa) in the evenings.
