My little green cottage - Dove Cottage - is aptly named because the cooing of doves will wake you up in the morning. But there's an assortment of birds in the lush garden, which you will see from the cottage, including robins, weavers, olive thrushes and sparrows. Feel free to walk around the garden and having a dip in the splash pool. The cottage has everything you need for a short or long stay. My cottage is 6kms from Durbanville and is situated in Uitzicht (not Oakdale), which is near the winelands as well.
I look forward to welcoming you to Dove Cottage. This is a new venture for me, and I am so enjoying meeting new people from all over South Africa and overseas. I enjoy making the cottage as homely as possible and yet practical and functional at the same time. Before starting this venture, I spent my days in front of a computer screen, so a complete change for me! When I'm not busy preparing the cottage for new guests, I enjoy sitting in the garden with a book, dipping in the pool in summer, meeting my friends for coffee and taking photos of wildlife.
The cottage is in a very quiet area and yet close to the N1 and N2 for visits to Cape Town or the airport. It is part of Durbanville. The Durbanville Wine Route is on my doorstep, and the Paarl and Stellenbosch Winelands are just a short drive away. The new Groot Phesantekraal View Shopping Centre is only five minutes' drive, and there are local shops around the corner at the Uitzicht Centre. For walkers, there are two dams with abundant birdlife close by. The nearest town of Durbanville has plenty of shops, a museum, gallery and lots of restaurants.
