The place is really spacious and the owners are amazing, top home made breakfast! We didn’t had good weather to enjoy the view but the terrace looks like the perfect spot to watch a sunset

What a location, beautiful views and the place has such a homey feel. In morning I went for a beautiful run along the coast best way to start the day. Location is close to beautiful caves & beach 4 min away.

Breakfast was a beautifully presented array - that was complimented by watching whales cavort in the bay. First, freshly squeezed orange juice, granola and/or oats, assorted slices of multiple fruits, yoghurt; followed by perfectly cooked eggs...

Of the entire trip in South Africa, this is definitely the place we'll hold closest to our hearts. For a very simple reason, Carol and Don, the hosts, are two wonderful, extremely kind and attentive people who will do everything to make you feel...

Lovely flatlet below the main house, with a beautiful view. We even saw early whales, in June! Friendly hosts, delicious breakfast and comfortable accommodation all make for a very happy stay.

We like to think that we are providing a home from home experience for our guests on the Whale Coast. Guests have the privacy of their studio flat but are welcome through the day to enjoy the breakfast deck, with or without our company, and the option to share a cup coffee, a glass of wine or simply a chat.
We have recently retired from the Eastern Cape though most of our married life was in KwaZulu-Natal. We have three married children and eight grand children,, three of whom are in Australia. My interests include reading, cooking, walking and spending time with friends. Don is the more physically active partner, happy to show the guests the cliff paths, dunes and fynbos on our doorstep, and to introduce them to the 9 hole golf course in the area. He has a passion for the outdoors and a particular interest in birds.
The privilege of watching the whales - mother and playful calves- at such close proximity, has made our move to de Kelders so worth while. Besides viewing the whales from the deck or cliff paths, visitors have the option of whale watching at even closer proximity, from a boat in the bay. The area is of course famous also for its shark cage diving and the shark boats go out daily, weather permitting, from Kleinbaai Harbour. Other attractions include a penguin sanctuary where volunteers from all over the world come to offer their services; fynbos hikes, including overnight trails; the 5 caves of interest along the limestone cliff paths, and of particular interest, the well known Klipgat cave which is an internationally proclaimed heritage site. In the nearby Stanford area there is wine, beer or cheese tasting.
