Casa Balena also meaning Whale House in Italian - true to its name in Whale season! This beautifully renovated Tuscan-style seafront holiday house is situated in Gansbaai, Western Cape. Overlooking Walker Bay, the elevated deck allows magnificent seaview with up close whale watching opportunities from August to November. There are 2 barbeque (braai ) areas, indoors and on the outside deck. Enjoy uninterrupted seaviews from lounge and bedrooms, and wake-up to the soothing sound of waves.
I grew up at De Kelders, Gansbaai and spend my childhood holidays mostly at Standford’s Cove, either in or on the water. I love everything about the area, especially as it is the best whale watching spot in South Africa and has the most beautiful Walker Bay sunsets. I am married to Mias Pretorius, and we have three beautiful busy children, two girls and one boy. I work part-time as a subcontractor in the food science field and love the challenge it brings. I love working with people, socialising with my family and friends and travelling. We are very excited to welcome you to our holiday house, and am sure that you will also fell in love with what Gansbaai and its surrounding areas have to offer! Your host will meet you at the property for welcome & check-in as well as check-out. If you have any questions/queries you are very welcome to contact your host for assistance.
The house is within walking distance from Stanford’s Cove (1.2km), Gansbaai tidal pool (150m) and Gansbaai Harbour (1km). Nature lovers can walk all parts of the 50 km of unspoiled Gansbaai shoreline ideal for swimming, hiking, surfing, angling - this area is also a popular region for shark cage diving. The house is also very central approx 1.5 km to the centre of town & restaurants. Guests would need a car to reach this property and explore the area. Centre of town is approx 1.5 km close
