Petit Plaisir began as our first step into hospitality and has grown with time and care into a delightful cottage perfect for couples visiting Franschhoek. Thoughtfully furnished and fully equipped with everything you might need, the cottage offers a peaceful patio where you can savor an early-morning breakfast overlooking the mountain. Guests have exclusive use of the sunny pool area. We live on the property and are happy to assist should you need anything during your stay.

Louis and I met in Cape Town while we were both studying. I grew up on a wine farm near Wellington, while Louis was raised on a sheep farm in the Kalahari, Namibia. After completing our studies, we got married and moved to Namibia, where we spent four years building our life together. My mum later spotted a small job advertisement in the newspaper and immediately felt it was the perfect opportunity to bring us back to the Winelands. In 1988, we moved to Franschhoek with our two little daughters — one a toddler and the other a newborn baby. Since then, Louis has worked in the fruit industry, packing and exporting stone fruit, soft citrus, and persimmons to markets all over the world. We built our second home in Franschhoek in 2005, and Louis decided to keep me busy throughout the year by building Petit Plaisir Cottage — something that happened 21 years ago already! I have truly enjoyed spoiling our guests, working in the garden, and raising our three children. Time simply flew by. Now, with a recently retired husband and three wonderful grandchildren later, the “I” has become “we,” as Louis has become my right hand in helping to keep our properties beautiful and welcoming for every guest who visits us.

Petit Plaisir Cottage is only 10 minutes walk to the village center, situated in a peaceful residential area, where our restaurants are the main attraction. Only 5 minutes down the road, you will find the Huguenot Museum and beautiful gardens of the French Huguenot Monument. Wine farms are easily reached with the Franschhoek Wine Tram or by car.
