Nestled within the private Elandsberg Nature Reserve near Riebeek Kasteel, Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse is an intimate farm hotel set on a working wheat, sheep and almonds farm. The farm is home to the main (Victorian) Farmhouse, two self-catering villas (Heron House and Wild Olive House) as well as the celebrated Conservatory Restaurant. From the outset, Bartholomeus Klip was founded with purpose. Our hospitality team, spanning the restaurant, admin, housekeeping and catering, is made up predominantly of women from our farmworker community, many of whom have been born at the farm. The Elandsberg Nature Reserve, declared a provincial nature reserve and Natural Heritage Site in 2008, protects two critically endangered fynbos vegetation types and is home to plant species found nowhere else on earth. We are active participants in the Quagga revival project and the Geometric Tortoise head-start programme, and are committed to safeguarding the reserve in perpetuity through Cape Nature's Stewardship programme. As a long-term certified Fair Trade Tourism member, sustainability isn't an afterthought, it's woven into everything we do. Twin sisters Lesley and Louise Gillett are the heart of Bartholomeus Klip, having called the farm home for over 20 years.
