Klipfontein is a rustic, off-grid farm with a relaxed, Zen atmosphere. This is not a hotel-style stay — simplicity and nature are part of the experience. We offer Rustic, Farm-Style Self-Catering Accommodation together with Off-Grid Camping and Caravanning, surrounded by scenic mountain views and the relaxed Zen atmosphere of the farm. Please note: This is a simple backpacker/budget-style camping farm — not a hotel or luxury establishment. Facilities are basic and off-grid, with the emphasis on tranquility, simplicity and the pure joy of nature. We encourage all visitors to book only if they are comfortable with this open and respectful environment.

Neighborhood info

Tulbagh sits in a wide valley framed by dramatic mountains. Leopards still move through these mountains — rarely seen, but very much part of the wild character of the area. The village itself is rich in history, open landscapes and long, slow sunsets. It remains one of the quieter corners of the Cape Winelands, close to the fertile Ceres fruit valley and about 80 minutes from Cape Town. Life on the farm is shaped by nature. Birdlife is abundant — guinea fowl wandering past, pheasants and Egyptian geese along the water, fish eagles calling overhead and owls at night. Caracals and aardvark have been spotted from time to time, usually when things are still and quiet. There are mountain hikes, waterfalls, trails, wine estates and good food nearby. But many guests discover that once they settle in, there’s no rush to go anywhere. Klipfontein works well as a base for exploring the valley — or simply as a place to pause.
