Mountain and Tides was a dilapidated property which was bought in 2013 and totally refurbished. It was one of the first houses in Kleinmond, built by George Bailey, who was the first English person to serve on the Town Council and is also known in town by older residents as the Bailey house. All the doors and windows used were secondhand, and although the windows were all replaced, the inside doors are still being used, giving the home a very quirky feeling. The deluxe double room is a large studio/appartment with room seperated from the lounge and has a full kitchen and a beautiful Mountain view with access to the garden. The double room is large with it's own door to the garden and although there is a little kitchenette in the room the wash up area is seperate and therefore utensils and crockery is washed for guests.

The home is situated at the foot of Jeans Hill, in Kleinmond, part of the Kogelberg Mountain range, which is called the Heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. As a result of the incredible diversity of fynbos, it is protected within the Kogelberg Reserve, which is also a UNESCO site. The area is popular for hiking, nature walks and untouched wilderness. The apartments look out on the mountain, and the home is situated in a very tranquil part of Kleinmond, which is also known for its beautiful Blue Flag beach situated just a couple of kilometres away. Close by in Betty's Bay, you can also visit the Harold Porter Botanical Garden or visit their well-known penguins at Stoney Point. The area is home to many world-famous wine farms.
