Pat Busch Mountain Reserve was established in the 1980s by Pat and Karin Busch. A passionate nature lover, Pat Busch was dedicated to preserving the unique fauna and natural heritage of the Cape mountain fynbos. Over several decades, he acquired adjoining mountain properties, gradually forming what is now a protected nature reserve. The reserve was later opened to hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering overnight accommodation in guest cottages under the name Pat Busch Private Nature Reserve. Today, the reserve features pristine fynbos landscapes, scenic hiking trails, gentle streams, and a freshwater mountain dam ideal for swimming and fishing. It is also home to a rare and protected species of protea that blooms beautifully in spring. Wildlife sightings are a highlight for visitors, especially during the early morning or late evening, when species such as bushbuck, fallow deer, rhebok, duiker, and grysbok can often be seen.
