Hi my name is Ian, I am the owner of Pelican Lodge Guesthouse for over 20 years now. The lodge has been a hands on labour of love, developed and nurtured over time to what it is today. With a lot of hard work, the help of my partner, wonderful staff, and on the odd occasion, an enthusiastic and willing guest, I've been able to turn Pelican Lodge into a stylish 4 star establishment that I'm extremely proud of and absolutely love to share with guests from near and far. It's what I do best, Hospitality! The memories and wonderful times shared with guests, is what makes this so rewarding. I get up everyday, not knowing who's coming to stay, but by the time they leave, new friendships have formed, and they look forward to returning again. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. I started out in 1994 working in a family country hotel, and then went overseas to the UK to get some international experience, and worked for Hilton Hotels. It was a dream come true to return to SA and run my own Guesthouse, and where better than in the beautiful Garden Route in the Western Cape. Sedgefield has a very close-knit community that I love being an active part of, dabbling in theatre, and enjoying the outdoors with hiking and tennis.

Over the past 20 years we have had over 22,000 people pass through Pelican Lodge, welcoming each person to the Guesthouse, often referred to as a home away from home. No matter how short or long they stayed, people from all around the world have experienced our special touches of warmth and care, ensuring they always feel they want to come back again. Each room has its own unique style with a touch of class, which allows you the guest to find a room that suits you best, and that brings you back time and again. There are many things that make us special, from our delicious breakfasts, freshly prepared with ingredients from the garden and coffee sourced from local roasters, to our superbly comfortable beds, not to mention the spacious outside entertainment area for family gatherings. When people come to stay and experience our hospitality, they leave with fond memories and the longing to return again soon.

The guesthouse is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Sedgefield, designated a Slow Town. It's a 10 minute walk into the town to check out the antique shops, art galleries or Classic Cars and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of our many coffee shops. We are a short 5 min drive to the beach and lagoon, or a 45min walk for the more energetic of us. Our town is perfect for those that like to cycle as well, and the bird life is a treat. We are a block back from the N2, so we are really easy to find. Being so central in the Garden Route we are from 30 minutes to an hours drive to most places of interest and adventure spots along the Garden Route, the perfect place to base yourself from which to explore this amazing region.
