BrazilWhat an incredible decoration. The property is so pretty with all the turbines from the days the hotel was a power station, mixed with modern paintings and what not. Really adds to the atmosphere. It's connected to a gastropub which was very convenient in the evening because we were tired and didn't even have to leave the property to have a nice burger and beers(plus live music). The breakfast is amazing, I got myself a delicious eggs benedict with smoked salmon. There was loadshedding but the hotel honors its past and has a generator so we were not left in the dark. Finally, loved the vibe in Thesen Island, the canals, the calm streets, etc.

Knysna is a beautiful place, Booking the right place takes time, but it is in most cases worth the money, if you do your research properly. Most bookings are walking distance to town or restaurants. And if not, an Uber, is inexpensive, to getting you to your location. Ubers are quick and every experience there is amazing.

Busier than I remembered.
We ate at Butterfly Blu in Brenton. The food was amazing, the view awesome but it was a bit pricey.
I was disappointed that all the boat trips were so expensive. I notice a marked increase in those prices which made it unaffordable for our family.
The shopping experience was top.notch

Although I did not get the chance to fully explore Knysna...
Although I did not get the chance to fully explore Knysna because of the weather and flooding during my visit, I could still see why so many people love the town. Even through the rain, Knysna felt peaceful, scenic, and full of character. The lagoon views are beautiful, the area feels relaxed, and everything is conveniently close by.
My trip was mainly for an interview at Knysna Provincial Hospital, so most of my time was spent preparing, resting, and waiting for the roads and weather conditions to improve before travelling back. Even so, I appreciated how central and accessible everything seemed — restaurants, the waterfront, shopping areas, and accommodation were all nearby.
What stood out most to me was the calm atmosphere and natural beauty surrounding the town. I definitely left feeling like Knysna is a place worth coming back to properly explore in better weather.

SO MUCH TO DO! Especially if you're an outdoorsy person. I visit Knysna frequently for its multitude of kayaking and hiking options. The town boasts some super restaurants and coffee shops, though I generally prefer doing self-catering. The city centre is a bit run down, dirty, and derelict, though I haven't personally encountered any situations that felt unsafe (as a solo female traveller). The secondhand bookstore on the main road is a must for book lovers. Navigating town is pretty easy, and the Information Office provides great assistance if needed. I can also recommend visiting the small museum. Honestly, the entire Waterfront area is overrated and overpriced, aimed at foreign tourists; best to avoid, unless you have a healthy bank balance or feel like a coffee at the Spur. Although Knysna isn't quite the jewel of the Garden Route that it used to be, it remains a splendid and quirky town to explore.

A fantastic apartment set out on the Knysna Heads. You need a car to access the place and it’s in a beautiful setting surrounded by luxury mansions. Great sun deck for watching the sunset, very clean and with all facilities needed. The host gave great directions and lots of suggestions for places to eat if you didn’t want to eat at the apartment. Very recommended.

Lovely spacious comfortable modern house with pool in quiet , safe area close to the beautiful Knysna lagoon and Leisure isle nature walk. Fully equipped kitchen and big lounge area with patio. Perfect for long stay and holiday in Knysna. Will go again!

The setting in the lush green forest vegetation with stunning view over the Knysna lagoon from the lounge, dining room and balcony is stunning.
