Appelhuis The Appelhuis is a picturesque self-catering cottage with a generous stoep offering magnificent views over the Langeberg mountains. Surrounded by peach and prune orchards, it is a comfortable and romantic retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle. The Appelhuis was built in the 1930s as a store room for apples and has a thatched roof, thick walls and wooden loft boards. In 2002 it was converted into a cottage to accommodate the third Smit generation returning to Doornrivier to farm. When it became too small for a growing family, it proved to be perfect as guest accommodation. The Appelhuis sleeps 7 and features two en suite bedrooms with double beds and fine white linen. The large main bedroom also has a single bed. A spacious open plan living area consists of a well-equipped kitchen, dining area with table and chairs, and a lounge with TV, indoor fireplace and two additional single beds.
