Port Owen is a small town on the outskirts of Velddrif in the picturesque West Coast of South Africa. Our house is on the banks of the manmade Port Owen canal. The canal stretches from the Bergriver and is also fed by the Atlantic Ocean, therefore the water is salty. Fishing from the jetty, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and rowing are some of the popular activities that you can from the house and our private jetty. If you have a motorboat, you can launch it at the Marina (extra launching fees apply) and then have an enjoyable time on the Bergriver fishing, skiing, tubing etc. Our house is a family home and we love spending time there, do not expect fancy but expect comfortable. Unfortunately we do not have a built-in braai but we use a mobile braai. The house has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, a large living area with kitchen table and indoor fireplace for the cold nights. The balconey outside is small but comfortable and the small garden area has place to relax and eat.

This is a quiet neighborhood with many retirees living around the area. We therefore do not allow parties and loud music. You can book a table at Charlie's pub at the Marina for delicious food and gin tastings, you can visit Laaiplek Hotel for wonderful seafood meals. Closeby is a Spar grocery store as well as OK Grocer, a couple of bottle stores and fishing and tackle shops. Take a daytrip to the West Coast National Park, visit the West Coast Fossil Park and learn more about the history of the area and look at fossils found of sable tooth tigers that once roamed the area. Play golf at Langebaan and visit the famous West Coast town of Paternoster.
