Rickety Bridge Estate sits where the Franschhoek River meets the slopes of Dassenberg Mountain, a place shaped by centuries of careful hands and quiet dedication. Guests are invited to stay in one of two distinct settings: the Rickety Bridge Farm Stay, with its three restored heritage buildings and ten elegant guest rooms, or the Rickety Bridge Manor House, an intimate retreat steeped in the estate's history. The tasting room offers a natural pause in the day, a place to sit, savor, and discover the wines that have come to define Rickety Bridge. The Restaurant at Rickety Bridge enjoys one of the Franschhoek Valley's most beautiful settings, nestled among the vineyards. It is the kind of place that invites you to linger, over a glass, over a bistro style meal, over the view. Nostalgic in spirit yet alive with new energy, Rickety Bridge is one of the Cape Winelands' most cherished destinations, where a long winemaking history and a genuine love of the land find expression in everything we do. Franschhoek’s town center is just 0.9 mi away. Cape Town International Airport is 42 mi away.

Incredible service and staff, super comfy and characterful rooms. Very quiet, like you have the whole place to yourselves. Great breakfast in a beautiful setting. It's a working farm so expect the odd noise in the mornings!

Company info

Tucked into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, just 3km from the beloved village, Rickety Bridge Wine Estate is the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Set against dramatic mountain peaks and rolling vineyards, with the Franschhoek River threading quietly through the property, this historic estate dating back to the late 1700s, offers something increasingly rare: genuine stillness, unhurried days and accommodation that feels like a home away from home. The wines are crafted in one of South Africa's most highly regarded cellars, drawing from exceptional vineyard sites across the region. The Foundation Stone range is a tribute to the building blocks of community and culture approachable, deeply satisfying wines that honour shared knowledge and tradition. The Regna Loca range, meaning "local kingdoms", is a celebration of South Africa's extraordinary diversity, matching premium cultivars to the regions where they truly shine from cool-climate elegance to sun-drenched intensity. Together, they tell the story of a place that honours its roots while always looking forward. Beyond the rooms, the estate invites you to simply be. Linger over a cooked-to-order breakfast, wander through to the Wine Tasting Centre for a relaxed flight of estate wines, or join a guided cellar tour for a fascinating glimpse behind the barrel. Spend a long, unhurried lunch at the Farm Restaurant, challenge a friend to padel among the vines, or simply find a quiet corner of the stoep and watch the afternoon light shift across the mountains. Whether you're planning a romantic escape, a family retreat or a quiet reset, Rickety Bridge offers heritage, warmth and generous farm hospitality on one perfectly placed estate.

Property info

Nestled against the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains overlooking the majestic Wemmershoek Mountain range, the historic Rickety Bridge Wine estate offers a complete hospitality experience. Our accommodation at Rickety Bridge is anchored by two distinct experiences. The Farm Stay consist of Homestead, Jonkershuis, and Cottage which are three beautifully restored heritage buildings with ten elegant guest rooms. The Homestead sits at the heart of the Farm Stay experience, offering three elegant en-suite rooms with bespoke bathrooms, custom contemporary furnishings and a host of thoughtful in-room touches. Breakfast is served indoors or on the terrace overlooking the vineyards, with the Dassenberg Mountain rising beyond. The Jonkershuis, recently renovated throughout, blends its heritage with effortless contemporary style across five en-suite rooms, shared indoor and outdoor spaces, and a sparkling garden pool. The Cottage, newly reimagined on the foundations of a former farm shed, offers two beautifully appointed en-suite rooms that balance rural charm with quiet luxury perfect for friends or family of four. Across the river, the Manor House, originally built in 1839, is the estate's historical heart: three en-suite bedrooms, generous living spaces dotted with original Cape antiques, and a private pool.
