30 years ago we visited Prince Albert on a hiking trip and fell in love with this beautiful little town and jumped at the opportunity when we saw no. 60 Church Street for sale! So, 22 years ago we established Saxe-Coburg Lodge. We are the longest owner run guesthouse in Prince Albert.

Property info

Saxe-Coburg is an historic Victorian/Karoo Guesthouse dating back to circa 1865. We are centrally situated in the historic heart of the delightful village of Prince Albert, Western Cape, South Africa within walking distance to all the restaurants, art galleries, antique shops and places of interest. All our rooms are set in a park like garden well off the main road ensuring a quiet and peaceful stay. Although we are in the centre of town a rural atmosphere persists. On our south boundary, a vineyard of repute makes a prize winning desert wine "Soet Karoo". Our neighbour to the north has planted an olive grove of 500 trees.

Situated on the main road we are in the hub of all activities and Prince Albert's activities office is right across the street making it very convenient for our guests to make bookings for the various activities on offer, such as the Red Bus Tour, visits to the Swartrivier Olive Farm, the Ghost Walk, tours up the magnificent Swartberg Pass and down to The Hell. We are also nearby the wine farms of the Prince Albert Valley.
