An Occasion Country-House The Olive House is Karoo: quiet escapism in a setting that is unsurpassed in Prince Albert. Views into the Swartberg and the distant Karoo form the living space which is surrounded by textured farmland only a five minute walk into town. The Olive House, which is the second oldest building in Prince Albert, has been restored to become a place of celebration. The Olive House is an occasion for occasions. But you can also come alone...
As my husband and I live in Cape Town and travel to the Karoo as often as possible there may be a chance that we cannot meet you. However, our co-host, Mona, who takes care of our home, will gladly meet you on our behalf and act as host for us.
This part of Prince Albert is characterised by smallholdings: The Olive House is actually registered as a farm but hasn't been farmed commercial for many years. Working farms do surround us so there's a sense of openness and life. All properties in the area are expansive and beautiful. You'll need a car to get to Prince Albert but once you're happy in the Olive House it's a ten minute walk into town and our neighbours also have bicycles for hire. Getting around over any distance does require a car, this is a remote but accessible place.
