It's great to be right on the ocean with the nature and the beauty of the Overberg nearby. During whale season it still amazes us to see so many whales just off the coast. Directly on the coast without a road in-between, it's uninterupted fynbos all the way down to water's edge. We love to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. I love to cook, so the kitchen is well equipped and we have recently refurbished the kitchen (2017) with new appliances.
Dutch/American professional couple living part-time in South Africa. We have been visiting the Overberg region for more than a decade and love it. We bought Whale Huys four years ago for our retirement, but enjoy renting it out to visitors when we are not there.
De Kelders is a very quiet and safe neighbourhood with a nice combination of long-time residents, holiday rentals and b-and-b's. There is a bakery three blocks away (walking distance) for basic necessities, and more shopping and restaurants are a short drive away in either Gansbaai or Stanford, each of which also has its own unique charm. Just 10 minutes by car.
