Hotel is in a fantastic location, very close to Teatro Massimo. Although it is above a lively street, the balcony doors are completely soundproof. There is a long staircase, so not suitable for someone who cannot manage stairs. The owners are the sweetest people who made us feel like they were taking good care of us, even though they do not speak any English. One note - we really appreciated the beautiful soft towels!! Highly recommend this hotel, great value!

I enjoyed 2 fantastic performances of "La Sonnambula"

I enjoyed 2 fantastic performances of "La Sonnambula" with an outstanding cast, especially the Sardenian tenor Francesco Demuro!!! The theater is a gorgeous bildung as well. I do hope to be able to visit some other performances there too. On my schedule is "Rigoletto" next year with Ludovic Tézier in the totlerole and Francesco Demuro as Duca di Mantova.

I did a tour which was a real bonus.

I did a tour which was a real bonus. They were rehearsing Turandot at the time and we could watch a bit of it which was amazing. There is so much history in this one teatro that I would highly recommend going, if you are into the arts and history.

We booked the tour online, but you can just turn up and book on to the next available tour. Wonderful to see the theatre, hear about its history and culture. Highlight is the acoustic section, don't miss out on trying it out!!

Check the performances calendar before you arrive to Palermo to catch a performance. Tickets are very accurate, acústica is fantastic and it is a much better experience than just buying a tour of the Teatro but without experiencing a performance

This is supposed to be the third largest theatre in EU after Paris and Vienna....I have been in both and none are as dirty and bad maintained as Teatro Massimo...where you can see the humidity in the ceilings, the fabric on the coaches at the presidential booth all dirty with spill spots, walls with the paint falling apart, unreal if you don't see it by yourself. The theatre has one single floor level, so I was happy to pay for the tour and not for a performance as if someone toller than you seats in-front of you guess what you will see...exactly his head and shoulders...nothing more. The outside is nicer than inside.

Most of staff is really impolite.

Most of staff is really impolite. They let in to the New Year concert, some people who knew them, some they cut the line in front of me. I misplaced my ticket and I got in a box instead of my seat. When I realized, I asked someone about it and I was kicked out of the theater as I didn't show them the ticket which was purchased by a friend as I had troubles with the viva site ( I am not Italian). I wasn't sure if she used her name when booked the ticket and sincerely I don't know her last name. All in all, despite having a ticket with was used to get inside the theater, I was kicked out the theater on January 31 while some people who were friends with the staff were inside the theater without having tickets. They called me names , even lier as they accused me that I entered without a ticket. I'm so sorry I didn't call the police. I wrote the theater, but nothing was done. Absolutely outrages for a cultural place. They were yelling at me and accusing of getting in without a ticket and blamed me for lying. I had volunteer for Calgary Theater, Calgary, Canada. The staff has always been polite and help the clients. I don't look like an imposter! I can't believe that people who work for a theater can behave like most of the staff. So, they let in for free who they want and kick out people like me. Outrageous!
