I chose Otrar Hotel because I wanted to experience a piece of Almaty’s history rather than just another modern hotel, and it truly felt like walking down memory lane. The vintage Soviet-era interiors, grand lobby and old USSR charm have been preserved, giving the hotel a unique character that is becoming increasingly rare. Otrar was once one of Almaty’s most prominent hotels, and staying here feels like experiencing a small part of the city’s past. Its location opposite Panfilov Park and the Ascension Cathedral makes it perfect for exploring the historic centre on foot. For the price, the stay was excellent, the breakfast was good, and I felt it offered great value. If you appreciate history, nostalgia and authentic character over modern luxury, Otrar Hotel is absolutely worth it.

Definitely good accommodation for short term trips! Very kind staff. Can help you and understand the situations when u have some troubles with credit card issues. They gave me options to pay later cause I was exhausted after long flight, and I was appreciated!

you can tell it’s a new hotel. really enjoyed our stay! exceeded my expectations. the front desk were very welcoming, always willing to help, also spoke good english so that was convenient for us! restaurant was amazing, never tried such tender beef, servers were very polite and attentive. the hotel also has a spa zone, it was very relaxing, the pool was decent size. housekeeping also were very attentive, caring. overall everyone was eager to help! the location is perfect for sightseeing, exploring. it’s a yes from me!

Overall, it is a fabulous hotel with an enviable location While the decor may possibly be considered as somewhat dowdy and dated, the rooms are incrediblely spacious and super comfortable Best of all were the staff. We are UAE residents. We visited Almaty for tourism purpose. This hotel was excellent. Rooms were recently renovated. There is no cooking facility like a Hotel apartment. However, rooms are spacious and comfortable. Mainly, toilet had jet spray. :) Location is just perfect. Most of the tourist spots like Central park, Almaty zoo, Dino park, cathedral, Panfilov park, Green market, Rahat Chocolate factory were just walkable. Even, if you cannot walk, the Yondex go taxi app was so easy to book taxis. Taxi was very economical and easily available. Overall, we highly recommend to stay in this place.

I really enjoyed my stay and felt really good all throughout. I also quite liked the included breakfast.

It was super clean and cozy, the water pressure was amazing and the view was beautiful.

The room is clean and tidy. The place is accessible to restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Special mention I am so grateful to Ma’am Elena their manager for full support and have been able to assist me all the way. Thank you so much.
