Pension Moomin Papa is a very cute and cosy home from home. It was very warm with lovely underfloor heating, clean and tidy. You can order home cooked breakfast and dinner. The other travellers were nice and friendly. I loved my stay here!

We had a wonderful stay at White Tree with two young children for five nights - we felt like we were at home. We loved the delicious breakfast and dinners, the shared downstairs onsen style bath after a day on the snow, and the common space where our children could play with toys, hang out, and watch TV- they played with Hayden's and Saki's kids. We rented gear and had our girls take 4 days of their first ever ski lessons with Susie at Shinano Snowsports (run by White Tree) and bought discounted lift tickets for Tangram/Madarao from White Tree- it was so easy and convenient! Being within walking distance of Tangram's chairlift is great, and the staff and other guests were friendly and welcoming. Thank you Hayden and Saki for a wonderful stay!

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! The place was dated but spotless, and very comfortable. From the moment I arrived, I received such a warm welcome from the incredibly kind and lovely hosts. The care and attention were truly amazing and made my stay extra special. I loved every moment of my time here and would absolutely love to come back! The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the ski area, which was perfect!

You can walk to the slopes in about 5 minutes, which is nice. Our room was simple but satisfactory. What makes this place stand out is the exceptional service and friendliness from the staff. Not only did they help us navigate the little town, but the manager went above and beyond by giving snowboarding lessons and even droving us to town for dinner. They were great guides that really helped us make the best of our time in Madarao. Overall, it's a very relaxed and communal vibe in the lodge, which was what we were looking for.

We loved everything about Unkai Lodge. The shared space is warm and open. Amazing view to wake up with and lots of light throughout the rooms. Everything is kept neat and tidy with regular check ins. We loved the modern bathrooms. The lodge is just a 5 minute walk to the slopes and there is a lot of good dinner options in walking distance. All of the staff were outstanding and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible. Special thanks to J and D for the top notch customer service! Nick and Corina are amazing hosts who helped with organising pretty much anything. From buses, trains to restaurant reservations, they provided very valuable local knowledge. We look forward to returning in the future and can highly recommend Unkai Lodge. Thank You for the good times.

Breakfast was amazing and made it very easy for us to start the day! Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Great location for skiing in Madarao, would come back again!
