We had a great stay at this house. It has a genuinely traditional vibe and was more than spacious enough for our group of eight friends. It truly felt like we had room to spread out. The small challenges were manageable: we did notice a few insects, which is to be expected in a house with this much character. The only real hiccup was arriving after dark when one of us stepped in some cat poop outside—a friendly reminder to future guests to turn on the lights or grab a flashlight! On the bright side, we got a lovely morning greeting from the local cat, which added a bit of charm to our mornings. Overall, we had a very nice and memorable experience here.

Everything comes together to make a beautiful and peaceful experience. The staff was very friendly and nice, like all of Japan, along with the attention to detail. The view follows very well the saying that life imitates art.

The breakfast and dinner are Michelin equivalent. The service is super. I want to come back just for the food and service. The experience felt truly authentically local. Do take the stair hike to the top beyond the temple.

The surrounding area was beautiful and serene! The property has everything you need and our room was well appointed. We were giving every toiletry imaginable and some very nice skincare products were available in our room and at the public onsens. The property had 3 restaurants from which we had our meals (which were amazing!!) and the lobby had free espresso in a beautiful area overlooking the river that runs directly next to the property. The food was fresh and we had locally caught fish and locally foraged mushrooms in a soup that was out of this world! The staff were very attentive and generous with their time and energy. Massage was offered onsite and the providers came to our room!
