Perfect location for group enjoyment

Room was much bigger than expected! Very clean, easy to get to and access. The restaurant below the rooms is also fantastic and very popular. Staff was kind, professional, and super helpful.

The location is beautiful and very convenient for the Whitworth Institute. I loved my cozy room, the comfy bed, the lovely, clean bathroom with the fantastic shower, the thoughtful coffee and tea amenities, the witty proprietor, Alan and his courteous, talented and considerate staff, the tasteful decor and the wonderful welcome. I'm so pleased I chose the Square and Compass and I'm greatly looking forward to my next stay. Very highly recommended!

This is the best BnB I've ever staying in fantastic night sleep and the breakfast was excellent will definitely be looking at coming back, maybe in summer

Its in prime location walking distance we stayed off peak everything shut sat nav hard to find had to stop its great for kids in summer plenty to do good kids

How the hotel rooms were away from the pub. And had a nice little courtyard we had a little fish pond outside our room.This isn't our first stay we stayed a few years ago. The staff was really nice and helpful. We had breakfast the next morning It was very nice. The drinks are reusable priced as we had a drink in the pub the pub toilets were nice and clean. My only advice would be don't open the door to your room if it's a wet night the room was very hot so we opened the door to let some air in and ended up with a frog in our room but it all added to our stay and we found it funny 🤣.

It was in a really beautiful area, right by a bus stop too.

The room was clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant served excellent meals and the car had a great selection of beer on tap. Highly recommend.

There was no breakfast as it was self catering. The location was convenient for us.

Patrick went above and beyond before our stay with communication and information about the area. Nice welcome shortbread and everything we could have needed while we was there. Smart TV. Multiple fans. Well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. Home from home.

Situated in a truly charming spot in a beautiful town. Very comfortable bed and a good shower. Kitchen was good and laundry was great, as we were on a long arm of our trip. Central to the sites of the Peak District and a great place to return after a day of touring! Parking was super easy. Grocery store just a few minutes away. Can’t imagine finding a better spot to stay!

we needed a place to stay for one night in Matlock, the property was very comfortable and well equipped, we couldn't find the place at the beginning because it is in a small alleyway our sat nav didn't have but the host helped us find the place.
